Darestore – Sendai

This is a perfect hiding spot. Spark Coffee Roasters were so kind and recommended this coffee shop to me and honestly I’m not sure if I would have found it without their recommendation. I passed the building, because I haven’t seen noticed any sign. But there was one! My friend said that it’s like Leaky Cauldron from Harry Potter, because muggles couldn’t see it. Or maybe it’s like the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts, because you could find it only when you pass by a couple of times and when you intensely think about it.

This coffee shop has three owners – Terasawa couple and their friend (with a hat) who got interested into coffee about ten years ago, because he wanted to know how it tasted. Finding new tastes with his friends was very interesting. The eyes-opening cup for him was Ethiopia which tasted like lemon. The couple spent working holiday in Melbourne and after coming back they decided to open a shop together.

This shop is about 1,5 years old and they are unique also thanks to their beautiful spoons which are a collection from their travels and gifts from their friends. They roast the coffee by themselves. I shouldn’t forget that they won the first place at Brewcup in Sendai!

Message for future customers:
It’s a bit hidden, so feel free to come and relax. Enjoy your moment while nibbling on some sweets and sipping coffee.

Free wifi: No
English: the couple

Have a look on their instagram, their posts are pleasing to the eye and soul.

A little bonus: my Swedish friend visiting Sendai said that this is the number one shop in Japan :)
